Reims-Gueux was a historic car racing circuit located near the city of Reims in the Champagne region of France. The circuit was in operation from 1926 to 1972 and hosted many major motorsports events, including Grand Prix races and sports car races.

The original circuit was made up of public roads that were closed to regular traffic during racing events. The track was approximately 7.8 miles (12.5 kilometers) long and featured a combination of fast straights and challenging corners. In its early years, the circuit was relatively basic, with few safety features in place.

Over time, the Reims-Gueux circuit was modified and expanded to create a dedicated racing facility. In 1952, a new grandstand was built, and the pit lane was relocated to a safer location. The track was also widened in some sections to allow for faster speeds.

One of the most notable events to take place at Reims-Gueux was the first ever Formula One World Championship race in 1950. The race was won by Giuseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo, and it marked the beginning of what would become one of the most prestigious racing series in the world.

Another important moment in the circuit's history was the tragic death of French driver Jean Behra during a support race in 1959. Behra crashed his Porsche in the rain and was killed instantly.

Despite its significance in the world of motorsports, the Reims-Gueux circuit eventually fell out of favor with drivers and fans. The high speeds and lack of safety features made it increasingly dangerous, and the circuit was eventually closed down in 1972.

Today, the remains of the grandstands and other infrastructure can still be seen on the site of the old circuit. The area is now a public road, but it is still used for various events and activities, including vintage car rallies and other motorsports events. The legacy of Reims-Gueux lives on as a reminder of the golden age of car racing and the dangers and thrills that came with it.
